birthday success

We had Kaden's party from 2-5 today.  Everything was done and ready and I was so relieved!  The forecast was calling for a 30% chance of rain from 9am - 8pm but it didn't rain until after the party!  And even then it didn't really rain that long.  We got to do the pinata and it was so much fun watching all those little kids doing it.  Kaden had great aim!  Theona went last and knocked the pinata off the rope!

We did cake and ice cream and some of the kids watched Planet 51 while they ate.  The Cowarts had another birthday to go to, so we did gifts before they left.  Kaden got some great stuff!  Rachel and Joel got him an inflatable bounce house thing...it's more like a round "boxing" ring...no roof, which is great because Kaden doesn't love the big bounce houses, but he absolutely had a BALL jumping and falling in the bouncy.

He got a few books and some clothes too.  And a remote control tonka truck, perfect size for him too.  He got a tool set and musical measuring tape from my sister.  The drill that came with the set really works and he was thrilled to play with it!

Because my birthday is 3 days after his, they brought me gifts too.  I got 3 pairs of beautiful earrings from Deborah, a December birthstone necklace (in honor of Lil Nugget) from Rachel, a candle and a gift card from my dad and a gift card from my aunt.  And I got a movie gift card and a sonic gift card from my sister.  WOOT!  So excited to use them all!  HA!

My sister and niece stayed to have dinner with us so we went to Don Pancho's.  It was delicious and the kids were awesome!  We put Kaden to bed as soon as we got home and he was definitely ready for it.  Rachel brought the toddler bed so as soon as we get the mattress from Amy that she's giving us, we'll be good to go.  I'm reluctant to move him to the big boy bed just yet.  He can't get out of his crib even though he can get his leg over the side.  I guess I should say he doesn't try hard to get out because he probably could.  They also brought bunk beds for Theona!  Just a white metal frame with a futon on the bottom.  We still have to get a futon mattress for it, but we have the twin already.  We'll probably set it up next month for Theona's birthday.  She is so excited!

All in all, it was a great day and my boy loved it which is all that matters!
